Poultry Air Intakes / Vents

April 25, 2026

Effective ventilation begins with proper air inlet design. It determines the location, velocity, and uniformity of the fresh air entering the poultry house.

Side-Wall Inlets (Minimum Ventilation Mode)
Primarily used during cold weather or the brooding period. These small, adjustable vents are installed high up on the side walls. When opened by negative pressure, they direct incoming cold air upward toward the ceiling. This design ensures that the air has ample time to preheat and mix before descending to the birds’ activity level, thereby effectively preventing drafts and protecting the flock from exposure to cold.

Tunnel Inlets (Hot Weather Mode)
Primarily used during the summer. These consist of large, motorized panels installed at one end of the poultry house. They open fully to create a high-velocity “wind tunnel” effect; air flows rapidly along the entire length of the building, cooling the flock through the wind-chill effect.
